The 2011 season marks the first time that the NECTC is working to advance the impact that non-profit foundations have, particularly in the multisport community.The NECTC is facilitating several programs to donate to the Scott Rigsby Foundation (SRF), a non-profit dedicated to aiding people who are physically challenged continue to pursue an active lifestyle. The namesake of the foundation, Scott Rigsby, was the first Ironman finisher with double below-knee amputations when he competed in the 2007 Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

NECTC Season Fundraising Competition

Format: Each team captain will register through the NECTC-SRF donation page. From that point, athletes on each NECTC team will be able to sign up, and then solicit ask family, friends, and coworkers for donations on their behalf through the website.`The NECTC suggests setting up Facebook Fundraising Pages/Events for your team or as individuals with the direct link for your team or personal fundraising page. In addition, we recommend sending emails to friends and family members explain your fundraising efforts, how they can help and encourage them to visit your donating page. All of the donations made will be tracked, and updates of the top fundraising teams and individual athletes will be available weekly.

Prizes:

  • Top Team that raises the most combined will win $1,000 towards Champion Systems apparel, such as new race suits, warm-ups, or training gear.
  • The top male and the top female individuals will each win an Xterra Vector Pro X2 Fullsuit Wetsuit, valued at over $600 each and a variety of products from our other sponsors.
  • The winners will be announced at the NECTC Championships in early October.


Multisport World Expo Raffles

Format: Members of the NECTC Board of Trustees will be at the Multisport World Expo in New York and Boston. At each expo, NECTC will be selling raffle tickets for $5 or 4 for $15, with drawings every hour. Half of the proceeds from the raffle will go to the Scott Rigsby Foundation, and the other half will go to the NECTC to foster collegiate triathlon in the Northeast.

Prizes: Each prize pack will consist of gear from our sponsors, including Athlete’s Honey Milk, Fluid Recovery, Landry’s Bicycles (MA), Brickwell Cycling, & Multisports (NY), Performance Testing by USAT Coach Vic Brown (MA), coaching packages by USAT Coach Sharon Levy of Excel PT & Workout (NY) and a grand prize at each Expo of an Xterra Vortex 3 Fullsuit Wetsuit.


NECTC Race Raffles

Format: At each NECTC race in the 2011 Points Series, raffle tickets will be available for $3 each or 4 for $10 before transition closes and up until the awards ceremony (tickets will not be sold during the race). Like the Multisport World Expo, half of the proceeds will go to the Scott Rigsby Foundation, and half will go to the NECTC.

Prizes: Each race will feature multiple drawings with prize packages from Fluid Recovery, GU Energy and others. Each race will also feature a raffle for an Xterra Transition Bag, valued at $75. Additionally, at the NECTC Championships, we will raffle off at least one Xterra wetsuit.
